SUMMARY:June 6 Vigil
DESCRIPTION:780 Third Avenue at 48th Street in front of the office of Senators Schumer and Gillibrand\n\nJoin us in commemorating the day that the SS St. Louis was forced to set sail back to Europe under Nazi threat after its passengers were refused asylum by the United States. Over 900 passengers were on that boat\, and almost 1/3 of them died in the Holocaust as a result of their return in 1939. This vigil is part of a kick-off event for a nationwide effort to influence the refugee quotas that the President plans to set for next year. Join the Synagogue Coalition on the Refugee and Immigration Crisis and HIAS for this important event.\n\nAnsche Chesed hopes to bring a large group to this event. Please sign up to let us know if you will be joining us\, and we will let you know where we will all gather as an Ansche Chesed group so our voices can be heard as a community.\n\nClick here to register.
