Yom HaShoah Reading of the Names
Each year, AC joins the JCC and other Upper West Side synagogues in the annual commemoration of Yom HaShoah, by reading from the book of names of those who perished in the Shoah. AC has a designated 30-minute slot from 11:30pm - 12am on Wednesday night for members to read the names. Participants are also welcome to read their own family names. AC young professionals, please join us for a meaningful evening of volunteering at WSCAH, an organization that has been providing New Yorkers with access to healthy food for 45 years. In the last year alone, WSCAH delivered meals to over 110,000 people across all five boroughs. Activities at the event will include packing healthy food, writing heartfelt cards to WSCAH customers, and getting to know other AC young professionals! Join us to celebrate Mother's Day as Knock Knock Give a Sock invites mothers and children living in local homeless shelters for brunch. Shavuot Tikkun Under the Stars: Healing in Jewish, Muslim and Christian Traditions
As the holiday of giving and receiving Torah begins, we'll greet Shavuot with study, celebration, cheesecake and light nosh on the Ansche Chesed roof. We will be joined by our Muslim partners from the Peace Islands Institute and neighbors from Trinity Lutheran Church. Together, we will study texts about healing from our different religious traditions, as through study and interfaith connection, we heal. Join the Ansche Chesed community in the Sanctuary to celebrate Shavuot. The first day will feature our "First Fruits" group aliyah celebrating recent births in the community. Families of newborns are invited to join us. You can come for the whole service, or just slip in for a short visit around 10:30am for the aliyah.
