The Jewish Community of Ukraine and the Current Crisis with Dr. David E. Fishman
David E. Fishman is a Professor of History at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. He directs the Jewish Archival Survey in Ukraine, and has spent extensive time teaching and conducting research in Kyiv and L’viv. There are between 50,000 to 100,000 Jews in Ukraine today. It is an active and extremely diverse community – with five rival Jewish umbrella organizations, two rival chief rabbis (both Hasidic), a smattering of Conservative and Reform congregations, and an impressive network of JCC’s.…
