Community Potluck for a Family in Sanctuary

Tue, November 13, 2018 at 6:00 pm8:00 pm

Ansche Chesed will co-host a potluck dinner at Fourth Universalist Society in support of the Hernandez family who are living in sanctuary in the church building. Bring a dish to share, bring your family, bring your friends. All are welcome to gather for dinner, community building, and to offer support.

In March 2018, Aura Hernandez was facing a forced return to Guatemala. Fourth Universalist welcomed Aura and her two children, Camila and Daniel, into sanctuary while she fights to secure a stay of deportation, have her immigration case re-opened, and secure a U-Visa.

This is an opportunity to meet and hear from one of the many people live in sanctuary in houses of worship on the Upper West Side. Aura Hernandez will share her story and you’ll meet her and her family.

Aura cannot step outside the 4th Universalist building – monthly potlucks are a way to bring the Upper West Side (and beyond) to her, to show that she has a caring community all around her.
