My Knees Were Jumping: Remembering the Kindertransports

Sun, May 5 at 7:00 pm

Beginning in late 1938, nearly 10,000 unaccompanied children were sent to Great Britain from Nazi Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia and Poland as part of the “Kindertransport” movement. Most never saw their parents again.

Please join New York filmmaker Melissa Hacker, executive director of the Kindertransport Association and daughter of a rescued child from Vienna, to view her renowned film My Knees Were Jumping, and discuss the bravery of the adults and children who took part in this historic rescue. AC member Tommy Treitel – the son of another rescued child – and other community members with first-hand connection to the Kindertransport will also join the program.
