Annual Sukkah Dinner & Sing Along

If you love music, but are not ready for a weekly commitment, bring more melodies and harmonies to your holiday celebration by joining Hazzan Hirschhorn and Shirei Chesed for Sing Along event during Sukkot. Partake in a festive meal on our rooftop Sukkah, bring your family, a friend or two, and a dairy or pareve dish to share. We will pick the most beautiful and fun Jewish folk songs from Israel and beyond to sing the night away!

Refugee Shabbat: Shabbat Dinner

We join synagogues across America to focus our attention on the current refugee crisis through the commemoration of Refugee Shabbat. Our plans for this Shabbat will be multi-generational, including programming for those of Hebrew School age, adults, and families. Our programming includes Iraqi Refugee Ahmed Badr at Shabbat dinner, reading groups, arts, community service projects, and multi-faith programming. Please plan to join us for these Shabbat activities to give appropriate focus to this important issue.

National Refugee Shabbat Interfaith Havdallah

Several Churches in our neighborhood provide sanctuary to people facing immediate deportation. As part of Refugee Shabbat, Upper West Side members of the Synagogue Coalition for the Refugee and Immigration Crisisare joining to host an Interfaith Havdalah to support these efforts. First Friends: Into Action!

First Friends of New Jersey and New York provides visitors and other support within immigration detention centers, helps detainees who have been released, and advocates for a more just immigration system. In this program you will learn about the operation of the largely for-profit detention system and what you can do to assist immigrants in detention.
