MLK Jr. Day Of Service
Ansche Chesed will join thousands of New Yorkers to volunteer on the 2020 MLK Day of Service. Get to know other AC members while working together on meaningful acts of service to benefit our wider community. Havdalah Service and Sandwich-Making
Adults and children will gather to celebrate the conclusion of Shabbat and then continue our time together making sandwiches and packing up snacks for a local soup kitchen. This program takes place at Ansche Chesed, 5th floor.

Serve our Community in Honor of Martin Luther King Day
ONE BLOCK is a non-profit, formed this summer in response to the massive cuts to the Department of Sanitation budget. Upper West Side residents commit to clean their block or side streets 1 or 2 days a week, and there are weekly group cleanups as well. Through donations, ONE BLOCK also pays for 3 ACE Programs for the Homeless employees to clean Amsterdam, Broadway, and Columbus Avenue 5 days a week. Social Action Town Hall Meeting: Supporting Refugees and Reopening the AC Shelter
Ansche Chesed, our "Community of Kindness," has a strong track record of turning our religious commitments into action, to help neighbors near and far. Do you want to help our neighbors at St. Paul and St. Andrew bake and package 700 dozen cookies for Goddard Riverside’s Community Thanksgiving meal? Goddard will serve 1400 to-go meals that day to our neighbors, and we are helping with dessert! You can sign up by the dozen. Please package your homemade goodies in individual sandwich bags. Hevra Kadisha Meeting
Ansche Chesed, our “Community of Kindness,” has an admirable history of kindness to the deceased, enacted through our Hevra Kadisha, the “Holy Society” of people who volunteer to wash and prepare people’s bodies for burial. Reverse Tashlich
Each year during Tashlich, we cast our "sins" into the Hudson River.
