Sanctuary City Planning Meeting
President Trump has threatened to release thousands of detained asyless into "Sanctuary Cities". If he does so, New York will be overwhelmed by the need. How are we going to respond? Join the New Sanctuary Coalition for a planning meeting to determine what we need to do in advance to be prepared if and when it happens. Accompaniment Training at Ansche Chesed
Join Ansche Chesed and The New Sanctuary Committee (NSC) for an Accompaniment Training. The NSC accompaniment program recruits and trains volunteers to accompany people facing deportation to their immigration hearings and ICE check-ins. This provides moral support to the person facing deportation and enables volunteers to hold immigration authorities accountable. Standing in solidarity with migrants facing deportation also demonstrates to immigration judges, ICE officers, and government attorneys that there is a community mobilized against their deportation. Havdalah Service and Sandwich-Making
Adults and children will gather at Ansche Chesed for a joyful Havdalah service led by our youth leaders. We'll then work together to prepare sandwiches and assemble meal packages for people in our neighborhood who are hungry and homeless. We are organizing a group to volunteer at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Manhattan's annual Thanksgiving Community Meal. Last year, this event served over a 1000 of our neighbors!
