Postcard Writing for Syrian Refugees

Now in its eighth year, the Syrian crisis has left more than 500,000 dead. There are 5.6 million Syrian refugees registered in neighboring countries; and 6.6 million internally displaced people. One of the most brutal aspects of the crisis has been the deliberate targeting of the medical infrastructure — the bombing of hospitals and killing of doctors. The disruption of Syria’s healthcare system has had disastrous impact on the most vulnerable members of the population — women and young children.…

Ansche Chesed, our "Community of Kindness," has a strong track record of turning our religious commitments into action, to help neighbors near and far. And in the last two years, we have sponsored three refugee families from Afghanistan and Myanmar, helping them resettle in New York Now it is time to carry those commitments forward. After nearly three years of Covid-based disruption, we need to re-open the…

Hevra Kadisha Meeting

Ansche Chesed, our “Community of Kindness,” has an admirable history of kindness to the deceased, enacted through our Hevra Kadisha, the “Holy Society” of people who volunteer to wash and prepare people’s bodies for burial.
